Preventative Dentistry
Proactive Care for Lifelong Oral Health
Preventative care is the foundation for a healthy smile. Through routine exams, professional cleanings, and our advanced in-house technology, we’re able to detect concerns early and help stop issues like periodontal disease before they progress into larger problems.

Complete Dental Health Evaluation
At your first appointment, we’ll ask you to bring any relevant medical or dental records, along with a current list of medications. This helps us gain a clear picture of your overall health. After check-in, our dentists will perform a comprehensive oral exam, which may include a visual evaluation, oral cancer screening, TMJ assessment, dental charting, and a periodontal review. We’ll also take time to discuss any findings and recommend appropriate treatment options. When necessary, digital X-rays may be taken to evaluate areas beneath the teeth and gums. These digital images allow us to identify concerns that aren’t visible on the surface and support a more precise diagnosis.
Gum Disease and Periodontal Disease
Gum health plays a critical role in your overall oral wellness, and conditions such as gingivitis and periodontal disease should never be overlooked. At KP Dentistry, we focus on patient education so you have a clear understanding of your gum health and how it affects your smile.
Gum disease can present in different stages, but early warning signs such as redness, swelling, or bleeding, should be addressed as soon as possible. Gingivitis often develops with little to no discomfort, making it easy to ignore in its early phases. While irritated gums are commonly linked to poor oral hygiene, our dentists and hygienists are here to help you correct habits and prevent further damage. With professional care and consistent at-home oral hygiene, gingivitis is reversible.
State of the Art Technology
Our dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants stay current with the latest advancements in dental technology to provide patients with exceptional care. From digital X-rays and intraoral cameras to same-day crowns and CBCT dental scans, we use modern tools to support accurate diagnoses and efficient treatment.
Digital X-rays
Digital X-rays help us identify issues that aren’t visible during a standard exam. When needed, we may suggest digital imaging to better assess your dental health. These images are taken using modern computer sensors instead of conventional film, resulting in lower radiation exposure and highly detailed views of your teeth and jawbone.
Intraoral Cameras
Intraoral cameras are small, non-invasive devices that let us see every corner of your mouth in real time. They help our dentists spot potential issues more accurately and ensure the best care during treatments.
Waterlase iPlus Biolase
This advanced technology offers an effective alternative to traditional injections and drills. By using a focused laser beam with air and water spray, we can carefully shape gum tissue with minimal pressure and little to no discomfort.
Microabrasion
For teeth with spots or discoloration, microabrasion offers a quick, gentle solution. Using a safe acid application and light pumice polishing, this procedure removes superficial stains and evens out the tooth’s appearance.
DIAGNOdent
DIAGNOdent is a small, handheld instrument that helps identify cavities that can be difficult to see with the naked eye. It works by detecting fluorescence in the tooth, allowing us to assess how advanced the decay may be.
CBCT Dental Scans
Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialized form of X-ray imaging used when traditional dental X-raysdon’t provide enough detail. This advanced technologyallows us to capture a single 3D scan of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone, supporting more precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
MI Paste Plus
This topical treatment is applied to protect your teeth, prevent future cavities, and neutralize acid challenges from bacteria. The creamy paste is easy to apply and comes in a variety of flavors.
NTI Appliances for Migraines
If you experience migraines, you know how important effective relief can be. The NTI appliance is a custom-fit device provided by our dentists and is designed for easy snap-on use. This small acrylic guard is worn on the upper or lower front teeth while you sleep. By interrupting the clenching reflex, the appliance helps stop excessive clenching before it begins, which may reduce migraine-related discomfort.
CEREC – Same Day Crowns
With CEREC technology, crowns and restorations can often be completed in just one appointment. By capturing detailed 3D images of your tooth, we’re able to design and create a custom restoration on-site, ready for use in about 10 to 20 minutes.
Oraqix®
At KP Dentistry, we offer needle-free anesthesia for select procedures to help keep your visit as comfortable as possible. Oraqix® is a topical anesthetic applied just below the gum line, eliminating the need for injections. Because it’s needle-free, numbing typically begins within about 30 seconds. The effects last for roughly 20 minutes, and sensation usually starts to return by the end of your appointment.
CariFree Cavity Protection
This preventative test helps us catch potential cavities early, before they turn into bigger problems. It measures the amount of cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth and places your risk level as low, moderate, or high. Based on your results, we may recommend one of two simple rinses to help reduce harmful bacteria, lower buildup, and protect your teeth from future decay.
